Officer Conference Gdańsk
Published: 2. June 2025
In April, around 60 seafarers and shore-based colleagues gathered in Gdańsk for a dedicated Wilson Officer Conference. The two-day event fostered collaboration, professional development, and open dialogue between ship and shore.
Representatives from Wilson led sessions on fleet development, crewing strategy, safety priorities, and cost efficiency, among other topics. The program reflected Wilson’s ongoing efforts to adapt to future demands while staying true to our core values of being Trustworthy, Competitive, and Safe.
A highlight of the conference was the contribution from Elkem ASA, one of the world’s leading providers of advanced silicon-based materials. Elkem participated with a primary focus on safety, emphasizing the shared responsibility for maintaining high HSE standards within vessel operations and cargo handling. They also underlined the importance of clean cargo holds to ensure the quality of sensitive materials—reinforcing the need for strict operational standards in long-term partnerships.
Skuld, Wilson’s long-standing insurance partner, shared their expertise on risk management and proactive loss prevention. Their input highlighted the value of a strong safety culture and continuous focus on compliance and improvement.
Beyond the formal sessions, the conference provided space to connect informally over shared meals and social activities, helping to further strengthen collaboration between ship and shore.
We thank all participants, and especially Elkem and Skuld, for their contributions and engagement. The conference reaffirmed our commitment to shared responsibility, partnership, and excellence throughout the Wilson organization.
